Existing Hydroelectric Plants

HydroDyne Energy specializes in automating and upgrading existing small hydropower plants.  Often plants even built 100 years ago and currently generate power with reliable turbines and generators, but with modern PLC based control upgrades and often just upgraded generators, annual energy production can often be increased up to 50% over historical averages with a clear economic justification.  Please contact us for an evaluation of your existing hydropower operation.

Abandoned and Decommissioned Hydroelectric Plants

Another area where we can offer our services is rehabilitation and rebuilding plants that have long been forgotten. HydroDyne will come in and evaluate the current infrastructure components such as the dam, forebay or canal, powerhouse and equipment, draft tubes and tailrace, existing utility company substation and electrical interconnection details.

We will them make a proposal to the owner to highlight the opportunities and economic justification for the project. A complete hydrological analysis with flow duration as well as local utility rates are evaluated to provide estimated annual power generation and project payback analysis. Please contact us for an evaluation of your dam and plant site.

Non-Powered Dams

In the U.S. there are currently 50,000 existing non-powered dams as identified by the Department of Energy that are used primarily for flood control, irrigation, water supply and inland navigation.  Often hydropower can be economically added at these dams to generate income for the owner and clean renewable power from the water continually flowing at the dam.  HydroDyne is actively looking for dam owners and sites to add hydropower and can do a complete evaluation of state and federal government-owned dams as well municipal, industrial and privately owned dams.  Please contact us for an evaluation of your existing dam site.
